Position announcement for Visiting Professor in the Department of Educational Mathematics at Cinvestav

The Department of Educational Mathematics at the Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Cinvestav), located in Mexico City, is pleased to announce a Visiting Professor position. This is a flexible, limited term appointment and can last from one semester to one or two years. Applications are invited from consolidated mathematics education researchers.
Functions
The selected candidate will be involved in:
- Teaching graduate-level courses in areas related to mathematics, mathematics education, use of technology and research methods, etc.
- Coordinating research seminars, colloquia, summer workshops, preparatory courses, and other activities to foster students’ academic development.
- Co-advising research projects at the master's and doctoral level.
- Participating in departmental academic meetings and collaborating with other researchers.
- Mentoring students through academic advising programs.
- Developing a variety of educational resources, including digital videos created with the use of software.
- Publishing research articles (preferably at least one article in Web of Scienceindexed journals).
Qualifications and selection criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A Ph.D. in Mathematics Education or related fields.
- A proven track record as an established researcher in mathematics education.
- Membership in Mexico's National System of Researchers, part of the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation, for national candidates or its equivalent in the country of residence.
- Experience publishing in international peer-reviewed journals (preferably in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and the SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR)).
- Experience managing and executing research projects, preferably with external funding.
Salary
The salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience and academic credentials, after an evaluation based on the Criteria for the Classification, Promotion, and Granting of Incentives to Academic Personnel at Cinvestav.
